Very interesting to read about a country I have long been fascinated by but know very little about. So much written about Israel is focused on war and geopolitics. Not much is written about contemporary Israeli domestic policy, even though many of us are familiar with the Kibbutizm. But that is a bit of a fringe thing I assume in Israel today.

I am a Nordic social democrat so this was interesting for me to read. I didn't really know well how Israelis thought about the role of the state. It surprises me that what you describes make Israel sound similar to Scandinavian countries. I have also read before that Israel has very low power hierarchies which also is similar to over here.

One thing I find interesting about Ben Shapiro lecturing Israel is that if I ever suggest any Nordic social democratic ideas might be beneficial to the US, then there is a lot of blow back from conservative Americans who don't want to be given any advice from outsiders. Yet here we got a conservative pushing advice to other countries.

I don't think there is anything wrong with anyone coming with suggestions, but if conservatives like Ben Shapiro is going to push American ideas on other countries, then him and his like minded have to be willing to hear the counter points and criticism.

From my perspective Israel is doing amazingly well. It is an extremely small country with few natural resources, which has had a difficult start. The US has had a massive head start in economic development so not exactly a fair comparison.
