“Vet a newcomer to a building”? That is news to me. How is that supposed to work? Are you talking about when you buy or rent and apartment? It is nobody’s business who you are. Anyway we Nordics are very socially awkward so I have no idea how that would even work. Such a vetting process would have been the most cringy and awkward thing you could imagine 😁

Maybe what you had in mind was when you share an apartment? In those cases the ones that live in that apartment usually consider different candidates to see who they get along with. But this is usually when people are young, going to university etc. I never went through it, except once or twice in the Netherlands.
