Whether that is true or not doesn't really matter, as he has made such a long list of idiotic comments on twitter. He claimed all COVID19 cases would be ZERO in the US by April. When he got called on this later, as this was obviusly a bad prediction, he claimed official numbers didn't mean anything anymore. He has been pushing one conspiracy nut job after the other, and calling for officials to be tared and rolled in feathers. That is just exceptionally infantile behavior. I am still crossing my fingers for SpaceX, but it is just a reminder that a lot of people who do great things are often deeply flawed people. Steve Jobs was the same. But at least Steve Jobs was 1000% more professional in the public sphere.
