Whether we like it or not, appearance matter. Say you look white but identify as blue, it doesn't matter. People see you as white and ascribe certain ideas about what you are like from that.

I don't think the problem is that we see that people look different. The problem is when we start assigning too much value to that.

I don't think the solution is to pretend we don't see what people look like.
