Yeah I have noticed a lot of Asians think all of us white people are the same as Americans from Calefornia.

But Americans also tend to emphasize this thing of Western values vs Asian values, when what they really mean is American values vs Asian values. America is an extremely individualistic country, which is in strong contrast to Asia which is more group oriented.

Us Nordics e.g. are quite group oriented like Asians. You see this a lot in sports e.g. how we train very different from say Americans. Cooperation and helping each other is more important. Team spirit. In the US it is more about the champions and the stars.

In Nordics like in Asia you are supposed to be humble and not brag. I America bragging about yourself means you have self confidence.

I think what I dislike about the "whitness" word, is that it attempt to describe people who look white as having certain types of behavior and values. When in reality it is a concept developed to describe the difference between Americans of European descent and their culture compared to e.g. African Americans.

It might be better to talk about Europ-Americans, WASPs or something like that, rather than use words like white which lumps people from Calefornia, Australia, South Africa to Finland all into one group. Just like I think African-Americans don't want to be confused with Africans or Jamaicans.
