Yeah it is hard to keep a language alive. I live in a very mixed neighbourhood and kids often don't know their parents language that well if they have e.g. both a Norwegian and foreign parent.
Easier for my kids, since their mom is American. Norwegians kids these days seem to almost speak more English than Norwegian these days. Thank youtube and computer games I suppose.
Funny with these kinds of traditional foods. Norwegian descendants may eat it more than we do. My grandmother used to make krumkake, sukkerbrød, sandkaker etc. My mom never really makes that kind of food.
A lot of the traditional food can also be really time consuming to make.
