Yeah... my youngest son is among the sharper in his class, and he often strongly dislike school because it is not challenging for him. He knew most of the tasks they where supposed to learn the first year before he started.

None of that had anything to do with my ambition on his behalf. I am not seeking a super kid. But I want to satisfy his curiosity. His curiosity led him to learn basic math and reading. We just indulged him whenever he had questions.

Despite his performance, his self-esteem is not very good. He is quick to judge himself as stupid. I have to do quite some work to convince him that he is very smart for his age.

But from what I read, this isn't actually that unusual.
